Fifth-grade students from Forest Ridge Elementary and Optimum Learning Environments (OLE) Charter School recently worked together to bring new life to their school campus!

In the winter of 2020, two of the school’s beloved trees were damaged due to ice storms and needed to be removed. In partnership with the district’s facilities team, students had the opportunity for a special tree planting ahead of Earth Day by planting two new Eastern Redbud trees and even added a new Japanese Maple.

“Here at OLE and Forest Ridge, our students have a key environmental focus,” said principal Shamika Cleveland. “This was a great way for our students to gain hands-on learning while building memories that they will be able to see grow for years to come.”

Happy #EarthDay, Salem-Keizer!
